"You are now going to burn a goose, but in a century you will have a swan which you can neither roast nor boil." —John Hus

The phrase “post tenebras lux” (after darkness, light), a rallying cry of Protestant Reformers, refers to the rediscovery of biblical truth in a time of spiritual darkness. John Wycliffe became known as the "Morning Star of the Reformation" because of how he challenged the papacy and for translating the Bible into English. There was also John Hus the martyr with important and significant final words. He declared that he would die trusting in the gospel that he had proclaimed and taught. Then he told his executioners that they could burn the goose (his surname means “goose” in Czech), but a hundred years later, a swan would come whom they would be incapable of killing. It wasn’t exactly a hundred years later, but rather a hundred and two years later, that Luther posted his Ninety-Five Theses to the church door at Wittenberg. This new design tells the unfolding story of the Reformation from John Wycliffe to John Calvin!
